collected here is a summary I have gained from the current discussion on LuaCheia, please feel free to comment or correct. --MartinSpernau
- the zlib license has been suggested.
- It might be better to use the same License as Lua itself, which will be MIT for Lua 5
- Ok, then let's go for the MIT license. Let's be pragmatical. --BDM
- There is a need to distinguish between 'Core' modules, those that are distributed by standard and 'Additional' modules, which can basically be any kind of Lua-Module
- Core Modules, such that are in the basic package should all follow the same License as LuaCheia.
- Optional Modules could have any License desired by their author, as long as that Licence does NOT compromize the License of the LuaCheia package
Licensing Philosophy
- LuaCheia should be available to an audience as large as possible. It should be possible to use LuaCheia for any purpose one desires, including commercial closed-source Applications.
- LuaCheia must at all times be open to everybody, and the Core should always remain so.
- Projects derived from LuaCheia should be allowed to choose their own License.
